Allen & Overy (A&O) has hired Pallavi Gopinath Aney as a capital markets partner in its Singapore office. “The [A&O] team has an outstanding reputation and consistently advises on marquee deals,” said Aney explaining her reason for joining the firm. Aney previously worked at Baker McKenzie’s Singapore office, which she joined in 2015.
Focusing on Indian clients will be a big part of Aney’s new role and she believes the move will allow her to enhance her existing relationship. “The India group at A&O has worked with nearly all the major Indian corporate groups on transformational M&A, finance and capital markets transactions.”
Aney and her team recently advised State Bank of India on its US$1.25 billion dual tranche regulation S/rule 144A senior notes issuance. The team also advised the joint lead managers in Oil India Limited’s US$550 million 5.125% bond offering.
She has more than 15 years of experience advising issuers, underwriters and investors in a wide range of debt and equity capital markets transactions in India and Southeast Asia.
A&O’s India group is led by banking and finance partner Sanjeev Dhuna in London. Besides Aney, other core team members are partners Gautam Narasimhan (Singapore) and Sheila Ahuja (Singapore) and corporate India head Jaya Gupta (London). Aney was identified as one of the top India-focused lawyers in India Business Law Journal’s International A-List, published in 2019.
