Cesar P Manalaysay is the managing partner of Siguion Reyna, Montecillo & Ongsiako (SRMO) which is one of the most respected law firms in the Philippines with over a century of service. Cesar obtained his law degree LLB from Ateneo de Manila University and Master of Laws LLM from the University of California, Berkeley.

He has nearly 45 years of experience in both areas of corporate practice and litigation. He counselled Siemens AG on its (1,500 mega watt) power generation project and assisted clients on BOT airports, light rail and subway transportation systems. He helped Unilever to establish an ice cream business in the Philippines through a joint venture arrangement and was also involved in its acquisition and sale of other businesses. He handled the public listing of shares of one of the Philippines’ largest universities and counselled the underwriter on the listing of one of the most popular fast food chains in the Philippines. He assisted a Bermuda company which has interests in manufacturing plants in the Philippines to list in the Singapore Stock Exchange.

Cesar has litigated before the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), metropolitan trial courts, regional trial courts, Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court. He handled intra-corporate controversies involving struggles for control of some of the biggest publicly listed companies in the Philippines, which are engaged in fields as diverse as universal banking, food manufacturing, telecommunications, mining, oil exploration and real estate development.

He successfully defended the Philippine Stock Exchange in the Supreme Court when it refused to list the shares of a real estate company despite SEC approval. He has handled arbitration suits in the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes, International Chamber of Commerce, Philippine Dispute Resolution Centre and Construction Industry Arbitration Commission. He is involved in various Financial Rehabilitation matters.

He holds several directorship, officer or representative position in key companies that are engaged in diverse business activities and charitable endeavours.

Cesar is a member of the Manila Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow), Integrated Bar of the Philippines and Philippine Bar Association.
