Introduction
Rommel U Mercado has more than twenty years of professional experience dealing with a broad range of commercial matters.
He has represented clients, including state-owned enterprises, in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance including loan syndications and private placements, telecommunications, information technology, natural resources, and energy.
He regularly advises foreign clients in structuring investments in the Philippines, including company registrations, and applications for fiscal and other incentives.
He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1996. He earned his juris doctor degree from the School of Law, Ateneo de Manila University in 1995, graduating second honors, and his bachelor of arts in economics from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1991. He received his master of laws (with honors – Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar) from Columbia University in New York in 2002.
Rommel U Mercado is also a professor of law at the School of Law, Ateneo de Manila University.
