Former Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) banking partner Niloufer Lam has joined her husband Zarir Bharucha’s law firm, Zarir Bharucha & Associates (ZBA), as partner.
ZBA has a specialization in shipping, infrastructure, ports, energy, commodities and litigation, and is based in Mumbai. Bharucha told Asia Business Law Journal that Lam’s addition will assist in building out the non-contentious practice areas of the firm.
“The India success story means that clients are increasingly looking for international quality standards and knowledge as well as extensive Indian legal experience, and it was this reasoning that brought about the decision for Lam to join the firm,” said Bharucha.
Lam worked at CAM until earlier this year, in its Mumbai office. She began at the firm in 2010, when it was known as Amarchand Mangaldas. She worked at Bank of America Merrill prior to that, on restructuring transactions as part of the Lehman Brothers insolvency. She has also worked at Morgan Stanley on mergers and acquisitions, and associated leveraged financings.
“Her joining gives ZBA the potential to broaden its specialist practice sectors as well as give clients the close partner attention that a boutique firm can provide,” said Bharucha.
