Bengaluru-based law firm Mundkur Law Partners (MLP) has merged with Bharucha & Partners. The merged firm has a new logo that reflects the names of senior partner MP Bharucha, partner DP Singh and MLP managing partner Ramanand Mundkur. The name of the firm, however, remains unchanged.
MLP was co-founded by Mundkur and Divya Balagopal. “Ramanand and Divya are an excellent fit,” Bharucha partner Justin Bharucha told India Business Law Journal. “We’ve always looked forward to working with like-minded professionals and the synergy with Ramanand and Divya is fascinating.”
The merger, completed on 1 April, came about as a result of the two firms working together previously. Bharucha said that the merger brings Balagopal’s knowledge of the education sector and Mundkur’s knowledge of the life sciences sector to the firm and also adds to the firm’s M&A, private equity, intellectual property and corporate advisory practices. After the merger, Bharucha & Partners has 80 lawyers, including 12 partners.
On the rebranding exercise, Bharucha said, “We’ve rebranded to better reflect our consistently broad and inclusive vision of genuine partnership. The most important part of this is the ‘& Partners’. We have always worked as a flat and genuine partnership and everything we have built and will continue to build is geared towards all present and future stakeholders.”
Bharucha & Partners had ended its association with technology, media and telecom partner Abhishek Malhotra in March 2019. Malhotra and DP Singh had merged their firm Arthe Law with Bharucha in October 2017. Singh, however, remained with Bharucha.
