Following a successful Beijing conference in April, China Business Law Journal, a legal publication under the publishing company Vantage Asia, will be hosting our CBLJ Forum 2019 (Shanghai) at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on 12 November 2019, this time with the theme “Seizing Cross-Border Opportunities – Managing Global Risks”.
In the midst of many global geopolitical uncertainties, in-house counsel at companies engaged in cross-border business face formidable challenges. The CBLJ Forum will address these challenges – as well as the current opportunities in cross-border business and investment – and provide a platform for thought leadership and the exchange of ideas and business solutions between Chinese and international business leaders and legal professionals.
The one-day forum has a packed programme consisting of four morning and eight afternoon sessions. As with the Beijing conference, the keynote speaker will again be Qin Shuo, a thought leader in the world of business and finance, founder of the Commercial Civilization Research Centre of China and “Chin@ Moments”, a new media company that covers economics, finance and business.
This November forum is co-organized with Shanghai International Arbitration Centre, Benchmark Chambers International and the Shanghai Equity Exchange Centre, in association with exclusive media partners Sina Finance and Lvdao.
The event is expected to be attended by approximately 400 general counsel and other senior executives of Chinese and international enterprises, including listed companies and financial institutions, as well as well-known entrepreneurs and senior partners of leading Chinese and foreign law firms.
Topics for the forum’s morning programme include:
- How should companies deal with trade war?
- Fundraising and cross-border investment
- Cross-border bankruptcy and restructuring
- Belt & Road: Analysis of investment projects
The afternoon programme consists of eight sessions split between three halls, and includes:
- Cross-border mergers and acquisitions
- Overseas listing strategies
- Dispute resolution: Shareholder disputes and private equity
- Financing strategies for growth enterprises
- Data compliance and GDPR
- Contemporary issues and challenges facing in-house counsel
- Eastern Europe session
- Southeast Asia session
