Introduction

Christina Zhang is partner and chief representative of Cooley’s Shanghai office. She has more than 20 years of practice experience, gained through private practice and in–house experience in the US and China. Zhang represents clients in cross border transactions, especially in life sciences and high tech industries and other industrial sectors. She has represented clients in their financings, licensing and partnership transactions, joint ventures, acquisitions and divestitures, distribution and marketing activities in China. She has also represented Chinese investment funds and companies in their investments, financings and acquisitions overseas.

Prior to joining the firm, Zhang served as vice president and Asia Pacific general counsel for the Power Solutions Business of Johnson Controls Inc. Prior to joining Johnson Controls, she spent 10 years in the life sciences industry, first as in-house counsel for Merck & Co. at its global headquarters in New Jersey, supporting Merck’s various operations around the world, and then as Wyeth’s chief counsel in China, supporting Wyeth’s infant formula and pharmaceutical business in China.

Zhang started her legal career with Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York, working on various financing, securities and M&A transactions, and other general corporate matters in the US, as well as foreign direct investments, acquisitions, and joint venture projects in China.

Christina received her JD from Duke University School of Law and BA in Economics from University of International Business and Economics. She is admitted to practice in New York.
