Introduction

Nafisa Nihmat is partner at Zhong Lun Law Firm, where she specializes in bankruptcy, restructuring and distressed mergers and acquisitions. She is listed as 2019 and 2020 Recognized Practitioner in Restructuring/Insolvency (PRC Firms) by Chambers and Partners. Her main practices include bankruptcy reorganization and liquidation, acquisition and disposal of non-performing assets, out-of-court debt restructuring and pre-packaged restructuring, debt crisis public relations for enterprises and institutions. Nafisa has handled several large-scale and complex bankruptcy reorganization and distressed M&A cases, which are influential both at home and abroad. In several projects, such as Sun Edison, China Solar, consolidated bankruptcy restructuring of Fengli Group and its 28 affiliates, consolidated bankruptcy restructuring of Zhoushan Haozhou Group and its 11 affliates, among others, she served as bankruptcy administrator or other roles such as legal counsel of administrators, investors, debtors, creditors or shareholders. She is committed to exchange and cooperation with bankruptcy law insiders in various jurisdictions, including Hong Kong, the US and Australia, on issues of bankruptcy restructuring.

Nafisa also served as a key member of the bankruptcy administrator in restructuring and liquidation cases for listed companies and large corporations, such as ST Dongfu, ST Changjiang, ST Shenzhen Shenxin Taifeng, ST Sichuan Golden Summit, among others. She provided comprehensive legal services to some influential clients including CDH, China Resources Group, CHTC, China Great Wall Asset Management, China Resources Asset, The Export-Import Bank of China, Avenue Capital, China Solar Energy, Jinergy Group, AVIC Trust, PING AN Trust, SPD Bank, Industrial Bank, Ernst & Young, etc. As an initial practitioner in the field of bankruptcy and as one of the lawyers who grew up simultaneously with China’s Enterprise Bankruptcy Law, Nafisa first expanded the concept of non-performing assets from non-performing loans of banks to various kinds of distressed assets.
