Liu Tao graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree from the East China University of Political Science and Law and a Master of Economics degree from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. He was admitted to practice in the PRC in 2008 and, since 2015, has been working at Commerce & Finance Law Offices. Prior to joining Commerce & Finance Law Offices, he worked at two other leading domestic law firms. Liu is currently a partner at Commerce & Finance Law Offices and has obtained independent director qualifications for A-share listed companies. He is also a member of the Internet Industry Research Committee of the Shanghai Bar Association, a mentor for graduate students at the East China University of Political Science and Law and a member of the internal risk control committee of several securities companies.
Liu has considerable experience and focuses his practice on capital market, mergers and acquisitions, fund formation, private equity and corporate financing, with particular expertise in advising on complex transaction structures and complicated legal issues. He has represented a large number of private enterprises, state-owned enterprises and collectively owned enterprises, foreign enterprises and investment institutions, in a variety of industries, including financial, energy, automotive, equipment manufacturing, new materials, environmental protection and clean energy, retail, healthcare, internet and software, education and other industries. Liu has advised numerous enterprises on formation, financing, restructuring, domestic and overseas initial public offerings, M&A and gained full recognition for his professional competence from his clients and business partners.
