Introduction

Simon Tsi is managing partner of Chang Tsi & Partners. Prior to starting Chang Tsi & Partners, Tsi had a long and diversified spell with the Chinese government, including legal and business roles in state-owned institutions, the judiciary and the national ministry. His services and records in large state-owned enterprises (SOEs) allowed him to understand the operations and management systems of the authorities, judicial organs and SOEs, and to communicate effectively with these institutions. Due to his in-house experience, Tsi understands the legal, financial and political demands and requirements of such enterprises in seeking a legal service provider. This year, the cases he has represented have won many awards, of which Jianfa lawsuit against Michael Kors for trademark infringement won the “2018 Matter of the Year” award from Asialaw & Benchmark Litigation, and “ Top 10 Intellectual Property Cases ” honour from Shanghai Intellectual Property Academe, while the case “Under Armour versus Uncle Martin regarding trademark infringement and unfair competition dispute” won the “2017-2018 Excellent Trademark Agency Cases” award from the China Trademark Association. Also attracting wide attention from the public, according to reports in the China Intellectual Property News, China Industry & Commerce News and Beijing Business Today was the case “Skechers versus Spieth & Wensky regarding the trademark ‘S’ infringement”. As managing partner of a Tier 1 law firm, Tsi is very familiar with the standards of services in the international practice of law.
