Dear Sir,
It is the rule of law that draws the essential difference between human society and the animal world and it is legal education that drives the promotion of social justice. Therefore, legal education has always been important and the practise of law is considered to be one of the world’s noblest professions.
In spite of this, the quality of legal education in India has never been satisfactory. As a result, it has not attracted first class students or teachers, nor has it produced world class legal professionals. For example, lawyers educated in India are not eligible to take the American bar examination and are unable to practise law in the US.
Over the years there has been a considerable decline in academic standards in law departments and colleges. There has also been very little innovation in the design of courses, the development of appropriate teaching modules, the formulation of research agendas, including the undertaking of research projects, and also the promotion of advocacy in lawyering.
