Eversheds Sutherland has hired Wesley Pang as partner in its arbitration team in Hong Kong, further strengthening its litigation and disputes practice.
Pang joins the firm from the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) where he was managing counsel. He has extensive experience in advising global corporate clients on major cross-border disputes, and also acts for clients in investor-state cases on both contentious and non-contentious issues.
Pang’s arrival comes at a time when the arbitration market in Hong Kong and across Asia has seen significant growth. This sector-driven demand originates in part from Chinese state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and other Chinese organisations. Disputes in the energy and construction sectors are also increasing, in part as a result of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
