Korea’s In-House Counsel Forum (IHCF) has a packed schedule of events in the coming months.
The most recent was its Annual Offsite Workshop at Busan Hilton from 31 August to 1 September. This is one of the most popular and big events for IHCF, and it attracted about 150 members who attended for the two days.
Day one featured four seminars:
- Workplace Sexual Harassment (including bullying) organized by Kim Heoun-joo and Kim & Chang;
- Investment Treaty Disputes to Protect Korean Companies in Overseas Investments, organized by Michael Ostrove and DLA Piper;
- Preserving Your Privilege in Cross-Border, Multi-Jurisdictional disputes, organized by James Park and Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan; and
- Drafting and Negotiating issues in Shareholder Agreements and Share Purchase Agreements in the Context of Power Project Development Assets, organized by Sarah Park and White & Case.
- A gala dinner completed the programme for the first day. The second day featured networking activities including hiking and sightseeing.
“The programme has continued for the past 15 years and is growing in both scale and quality every year,” said IHCF president Yang Jay-son. “The seminars held this year have been chosen in close co-ordination with our Academic Committee so that members can benefit from the most recent developments in the relevant legal issues. IHCF will continue to provide its members the best networking and education opportunities.”
Other IHCF events planned for in the coming months include:
- A seminar hosted by the Arbitration Committee on 19 September;
- A “Big Networking Night” hosted by the Construction and Energy Committee on 10 October;
- A Finance Committee seminar on export sanctions, with a similar format to an earlier AML seminar, scheduled for 20 or 21 October; and
- A special lecture from Lee Jae-woong, the former CEO of DAUM, a well known IT portal. Lee will discuss the future of platform business in Korea on 30 October.
