Introduction

Karan Singh Chandhiok heads the dispute resolution and competition law practice at Chandhiok & Mahajan. He represents clients before various courts, arbitral tribunals, and regulators in India. He also has extensive experience in advising airlines and lessors on contentious and non-contentious matters; and on the financing and regulatory aspects of aviation in India. In addition, Chandhiok regularly represents clients before the National Green Tribunal and other courts on environmental regulations.

Chandhiok has been recognized by Chambers and Partners; Who’s Who Legal; the International Financial Law Review; and the Global Competition Review as a leading lawyer in India. Asialaw Leading Lawyers recommends him as a “market leading lawyer” for dispute resolution and competition law. Chandhiok has acted for various corporations in the information technology, information technology enabled services, banking and finance, glass, steel, cement, tyres, automotive components, liquor, aviation, telecommunications, healthcare, bio-technology, pharma, retail, transport, infrastructure and media sectors.

Chandhiok is a non-governmental advisor to the International Competition Network. In 2011, he advised the Competition Commission of India on the draft merger control regulations; and went on to take an active role in the Committee on the National Competition Law Policy.

He is the co-chair of the ASSOCHAM – National Council on Competition Law; former chair of the Indian National Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Division; and treasurer of the Competition Law Bar Association. Chandhiok has a bachelor of civil law degree from the University of Oxford. He is admitted as an advocate in India and as a solicitor in England & Wales.
