Alka Bharucha is a founding partner of Bharucha & Partners and chair of the transactions practice of the firm. She has more than 30 years of experience. Her practice ranges across mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments and joint ventures, banking and structured finance, capital markets and infrastructure. Bharucha has in-depth expertise in the telecom sector having advised Indian and multinational telecom companies on mergers and acquisitions, financings, initial public offerings, and regulatory matters. Bharucha also has significant experience in the power sector and has represented several developers. Her general corporate work includes establishment of mutual funds, providing regulatory advice to foreign portfolio investors, foreign venture capital investors, brokers, merchant bankers and other financial intermediaries.
Bharucha is actively engaged in representing transnational corporations for investments in retail, real estate, defence, power and banking sectors.
Bharucha graduated from the University of Bombay and has a Master’s degree in law from the University of London. She is a solicitor of the Bombay High Court and an advocate-on-record of the Supreme Court of India. She is a director at a number of listed companies.
