Suhaan Mukerji is founding partner of PLR Chambers, a law firm specializing in public policy and regulatory affairs, which has been awarded the best policy and regulatory law firm of the year award by India Business Law Journal for 2019, 2017-18, 2016, 2015 and 2014, and received Legal Era Awards in 2017, 2016 and 2015. He consistently advises clients on corporate affairs and public policy strategy in India, primarily involving sectors of defence, nuclear power, information and communications technology, privacy and data protection, anti-corruption and white-collar crime, public procurement, food and pharmaceuticals law, not-for-profit laws, education, internet and e-commerce, international trade and investment disputes.
He regularly represents and assists clients before the Supreme Court of India, CBI Courts, various ministries and departments of the federal government, including the DIPP, Department of Economic Affairs, Road Transport Highways, Commerce and Industries, Fertilizers and Chemicals, Environment, Defence, Renewable Energy, Power, Coal, Mining, Meity and DoC, DRI, various state governments including Haryana, Telangana, Delhi, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram regulators including the RBI, SEBI, DGCA, SFIO, FSSAI, TRAI, and various law enforcement agencies across the country.
Suhaan regularly advises government at federal and state level on policy and legislative reform, serving on a number of government and industry committees, and regularly appearing as an expert witness before parliamentary standing committees. Legislative drafting assignments include, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways – Road Transport and Safety Bill; Department of Heavy Industries – the CEMM Bill; Inland Waterways Authority – PPP framework.
He has a Bachelor’s degree from National Law School, Bangalore, and an LLM from the London School of Economics. He is a passionate supporter of development initiatives and serves on the board of a number of leading global not-for-profit organizations.
