As Indonesia’s longest-established law firm (founded in 1967), ABNR pioneered the development of international commercial law in the country following the reopening of its economy to foreign investment after a period of isolationism in the early 1960s.
With 25 partners (including Indonesian and foreign counsel) and about 85 other fee earners (including associates and of counsel), we are the largest independent, full-service law firm in Indonesia, and one of the country’s top three law firms by lawyer numbers, giving us the scale needed to simultaneously handle large and complex transnational deals across a range of practice areas.
We also have global reach as the exclusive Lex Mundi (LM) member firm for Indonesia since 1991. LM is the world’s leading network of independent law firms, with members in more than 100 countries. ABNR’s position as LM member firm for Indonesia was reconfirmed for a further six-year period in 2018.
Through our work over the years, we have come to be intimately acquainted with our clients’ businesses. We offer particular experience and expertise in financial services, manufacturing, consumer goods, e-commerce, pharmaceuticals & healthcare, education, oil & gas, general mining, power & renewables, real estate & construction, shipping, aviation, automotive, telecommunications, plantations & agriculture, and tourism & hospitality.
We continue to value the personal touch and are proud of our reputation for responsiveness. Our lawyers are business savvy and fully understand that − alongside legal expertise and experience − timeliness and value for money are of the utmost importance to our clients.
ABNR is an equal opportunity firm, as evidenced by the fact that more than 40 percent of our partners are women. We are also committed to CSR in such key areas as education, the environment and human rights, as demonstrated by the training and scholarships we offer to aspiring young lawyers through the ABNR Foundation, and the pro bono services we provide to non-governmental and civil society organizations.
