L&L Partners (which until 4 August was known as Luthra & Luthra) is stepping up its recruitment strategy to keep up with a greater workload, a senior partner said as the firm hired its second partner this year.
Senior partner Mohit Saraf told India Business Law Journal that the firm had seen an increasing amount of work come in, as highlighted by the recent hiring of partner Jay Parikh, who was formerly with Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM).
“We are very excited about Jay joining the firm,” said Saraf. “[L&L Partners] is seeing a sizeable deal flow and therefore we are aggressively looking at hiring partners and managing associates.”
In January, the firm appointed Trilegal counsel Vishwanath Pratap Singh as a partner in its private equity (PE) practice.
Parikh, with expertise in corporate, M&A, private equity, and banking and finance, joins the firm’s Mumbai office. “I really like what is being planned for the firm over the next five to 10 years … I bought into the growth story,” he said of his move to L&L Partners.
Significant transactions Parikh worked on while at SAM include Quess Corp’s acquisition of a majority stake in Tata Business Support Services in November 2017 and global PE firm Advent International’s acquisition of a 41% stake in ASK Group in December 2016.
L&L Partners has more than 350 lawyers, including 74 partners.
