Akhil Anand, a litigation lawyer, has re-joined Luthra & Luthra’s litigation practice as a partner.
Anand’s clients have included WhatsApp and Facebook, which he represented before Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court. He was a partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and before that head of the litigation practice at Poovayya & Co’s Delhi office. He began his career as an associate at Luthra & Luthra.
“In a way it is a homecoming for me after nearly nine years of stints at various other firms,” Anand told India Business Law Journal. “I am glad to be back and I look forward to working with the team at L&L”.
Luthra & Luthra’s litigation practice is a separate entity and has 115 lawyers.
Rajiv Luthra, founder and managing partner of Luthra & Luthra, said the depth of Anand’s experience in the Information Technology Act and criminal laws would add “immense value to our already established litigation team”. He said Anand would also be “a welcome addition” to the firm’s cricket team.
