“The new partners bring the firm over a decade of [experience] working together on corporate, private equity, and capital market transactions, both inbound to China and Hong Kong as well as outbound from mainland China to the rest of the world,” Jami McKeon told China Business Law Journal, adding that the move would provide enhanced capabilities to clients already being served by the new team, as well as the current clients of Morgan Lewis.

The 13 new partners left Orrick and created a new firm, Luk & Partners, which opened on 13 February and plans to eventually join with Morgan Lewis. Pursuant to The Law Society of Hong Kong’s rules, Morgan Lewis will file an application to become a registered foreign law firm in Hong Kong, and will then seek approval to associate with Luk & Partners.
