The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) has announced the appointment of Sarah Grimmer as its secretary-general with effect from September.
Grimmer, pictured right, has more than 14 years of experience in the field of international arbitration, spanning inter-state, investor-state and international commercial arbitration.
“Sarah is the ideal fit to lead the HKIAC to the next stage of its growth,” said Teresa Cheng, chairman of the HKIAC. “With her extensive experience in international arbitration, we are confident that the HKIAC will continue to improve and bring the highest level of dispute resolution services to our users.”
The HKIAC’s current secretary-general, Chiann Bao, will join Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom as regional counsel in the international law firm’s Hong Kong office at the start of September.
In her new position, Bao will continue to focus on international arbitration. “Chiann is a hugely respected figure in Asian arbitration circles,” said Rory McAlpine, head of Skadden’s Asia-Pacific litigation and international arbitration group. “She will have a significant role in the continued expansion of our practice in Hong Kong and beyond.”
