HSA energy partner leaves

Rahul Arora, a partner in the energy and infrastructure practice of HSA Advocates, has left to join Trilegal. He will be based in the firm’s New Delhi office.

Arora’s experience covers various aspects of energy and infrastructure projects and a large part of his practice is dedicated to real estate matters, including environment law, forestry and land laws.

Prior to HSA, Arora was at Khaitan & Co and J Sagar Associates. With his joining, Trilegal’s partnership strength grows to 52.

JSA boosts tax team

J Sagar Associates (JSA) has hired Manish Mishra as a partner in its Gurgaon office. Mishra joins from BDO India, where he worked for more than two years and also held the position of partner.

He led the indirect tax practice for northern India at BDO, which is considered to be one of the leading practices for the region.

Mishra is a lawyer and cost accountant with more than 20 years of experience in indirect taxation.

Trilegal hires corp partner

Trilegal has appointed Harsh Maggon as a partner in its corporate practice in Mumbai. Maggon specializes in public mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions and has advised on multiple takeovers involving open offers and schemes of arrangements across sectors as well as delisting offers.

Commenting on Maggon’s appointment, Trilegal partner Sridhar Gorthi said, “We anticipate a significant uptick in public M&A and private equity deals in the market. Harsh has excellent credentials in this space and has worked with marquee PE funds on significant transactions.”

Maggon joins the firm from AZB & Partners. Prior to this, he worked in the public mergers and acquisitions team at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas.

Promotion at Majmudar

Majmudar & Partners has inducted Amrit Mehta into the firm’s partnership in Mumbai.

Mehta has 11 years of experience in corporate, M&A, insurance and real estate financing.

Mehta recently completed a secondment at the office of leading Japanese law firm Mori Hamada & Matsumoto in Tokyo. He has also advised on domestic and cross-border acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity investments, foreign direct investments and insurance matters.

Among his notable deals, Mehta represented Cigna on the proposed increase in its stake in its insurance joint venture in India, CignaTTK Health Insurance Company. He also advised Grab on Indian employment law issues, and reviewed and finalized the company’s employment and consultancy agreements and the applicable human resources policies and registrations.

Singh expands in bengaluru

Singh & Associates has moved its Bengaluru office to a larger space in the city’s central business district area in order to strengthen its presence in South India. The firm has been present in the city since 2010.

“We penetrated the Bengaluru market long back,” says Manoj Singh, founding partner of Singh & Associates. “With this expansion, we are looking to increase our team size to meet client’s needs and expand our services.”

The firm has more than 150 professionals and services clients in the areas of litigation and alternate dispute resolution, intellectual property, contracts and transactions, corporate and tax and other related advisory services.
