IndusLaw gains labour partner

IndusLaw has hired Manishii Pathak as a partner in its New Delhi office. Pathak joins from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and has over 25 years of experience.

“Manishii is a great addition to our team and will significantly bolster our already well-regarded labour and employment law practice,” said IndusLaw senior partner Gaurav Dani.

Pathak has experience in corporate law advisory, labour and employment laws, M&A and regulatory advisory. He has advised foreign companies, Indian subsidiaries of foreign companies and Indian companies on complex labour and employment matters.

ILO takes over Bengaluru firm

India Law Offices (ILO) has acquired Bengaluru-based BRK Law Partners and has brought in its managing partner Vijay Belavadi as a partner. Belavadi has 15 years of experience and focuses on real estate and contract disputes, corporate and civil matters.

He is joined by Mallesh KM, who was a partner at BRK, along with two other lawyers. Mallesh had joined the firm in 2015 and focuses on civil litigation and corporate matters. ILO’s main office is in New Delhi, and the firm has offices in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Finsec partner made director

HDFC Bank’s board of directors has appointed Sandeep Parekh, the managing partner of Finsec Law Advisors, as an additional independent director for a period of five years.

Parekh was executive director of the Securities and Exchange Board of India during 2006-08 and headed the legal affairs and enforcement departments for the markets regulator.

Finsec Law Advisors provides regulatory advice and assistance in the financial service sector. Parekh manages Finsec with Anil Choudhary, who is a partner at the firm.

CAM partner returns to JSA

J Sagar Associates (JSA) has hired Asim Abbas as a partner in its telecom media technology (TMT) practice at its New Delhi office. Abbas, who had earlier worked with JSA, is rejoining the firm after 14 years. He was a partner at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas until the end of 2018.

He has 25 years of experience focused on the TMT sector and has worked as a policymaker in the Department of Telecommunication, Ministry of Communications as well as with Indian telecom company Bharti Airtel.

Promotion at Argus Partners

Argus Partners announced that managing associate Nidhi Arya will be made a partner from 1 April. Arya’s primary practice areas are real estate and general corporate, and she has been extensively involved in advising on compliance with the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016. She has also been involved in various finance transactions relating to real estate. She joined the firm in May 2013.
