ELP partners leave firm

Seetharaman & Associates has changed its name to Sarvada Legal after bringing on board former Economic Laws Practice (ELP) partners MP Devnath and Vivek Sharma and associate partner Abhishek Anand along with their team. Devnath, Sharma and Anand were members of the litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution team at ELP.

With their joining, Sarvada Legal has expertise in competition law, corporate and commercial laws, dispute resolution, international trade and customs, insolvency and bankruptcy, policy and regulatory, tax advisory & litigation, trademark and copyright and white-collar crime.

The ELP partners and the key members of Seetharaman all previously worked at Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan.

RecruVia gets funding

Legal tech startup RecruVia has secured an undisclosed amount of funding from a group of foreign and Indian investors. The company will utilize the funds to complete the development of its software-as-a-service self-learning recruitment search engine. “Our venture has a single aim,” said RecruVia founder Sachin Sukumar. “To make the search for the right legal candidate or job easy and provide a ‘fit for purpose’ [solution] to those recruiting and being recruited.”

RecruVia pairs candidates with job descriptions on a rule-based matching system and is developing a machine learning-based engine to sharpen its search. The company was set up over three years ago by Sukumar and was bootstrapped until this round.

VC partner at Samvad

Samvad Partners has inducted Nisha Mallik into its partnership. Mallik will work in the Mumbai office and joins from Themis Associates, where she was an associate partner.

Her areas of expertise include venture capital investments and commercial legal transactions. In a career spanning over a decade, Mallik has been involved in legal advisory related to venture capital investments, joint ventures, international finance transactions, share and asset acquisitions, corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions and corporate commercial laws.

Mallik previously worked at Indo-US law firm Sand Hill Counsel and Thakker & Thakker.

Trilegal PE partner quits

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has appointed Ravindra Bandhakavi as a partner and head of the private equity practice. He will work in the Delhi office and joins from Trilegal where he worked for more than four years.

Bandhakavi has over 18 years of experience. He focuses on private equity and mergers & acquisitions transactions and works closely with numerous private equity funds and financial institutions on their investments in India across various sectors.

Prior to Trilegal, he was with the erstwhile Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co.

Promotions at DMD Advocates

DMD Advocates has promoted six associates as part of its annual promotions. In the litigation and arbitration practice, Suman Yadav has been promoted to principal associate and Aditya Sarin, Nikhita Suri and Adhiraj Malhotra have been promoted to senior associate.

Divay Rastogi has been promoted to senior associate in the corporate practice and Siddharth Joshi has been promoted to senior associate in the tax practice.
