Banking lawyer Veena Sivaramakrishnan, who resigned in June from mid-sized firm Juris Corp, is joining Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM) as a partner in its Mumbai office.

She will be part of the firm’s banking, restructuring and insolvency, and bankruptcy code practice, which is headed by executive chairman Shardul Shroff. Shroff said Sivaramakrishnan “will help us further strengthen our relationship with our clients in the western region”.

Describing her move as the logical next step in her professional journey, Sivaramakrishnan said: “I look forward to growing the practice to newer heights in the years to come”.

Sivaramakrishnan began her career at Juris Corp’s derivatives and money markets team and spent three years as an in-house lawyer at ICICI Bank before returning to Juris Corp in 2009. While at ICICI Bank, she was seconded to Davis Polk & Wardwell’s New York office.
