Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM) elevated 11 fee earners to salaried partners thus raising the partnership strength of the firm to 102 partners. The promotions took place across seven locations and ten practice areas as the firm celebrates its centenary year.
“In normal course we appoint anywhere between 12 – 16 partners a year. Predominantly we will be looking to the internal talent for promotions,” SAM executive chairman Shardul Shroff told India Business Law Journal.
“We look to see technical skills, collegiality, contribution to the firm and its well-being, business plan, marketing standing as some of the issues before making a partner.”
The 11 partners are Aayush Kapoor, Abhinav Bhalaik, Varun Sehgal and Sunando Mukherjee in the general corporate practice; Rishab Gupta and Aashish Gupta in the dispute resolution practice; Shubhangi Garg and Soummo Biswas in the banking and finance practice; Vishaka Prasad and Siddhartha Sen in the projects and project finance practice; and Shahana Chatterji in the policy practice.
