Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA) held a May event titled “Live, Laugh and Dance” as part of a mission to foster mental and physical well-being among in-house lawyers in Singapore.

The event was the latest in a series devised by the association’s Well-Being chapter, which was formed in 2017 following a call to action on this front by Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon.

“Live, Laugh and Dance” sought to bring together in-house counsel and members of the legal community to promote health and overall well-being through salsa dance.

ChangAroth Chambers and ChangAroth International Consultancy were sponsors of the event.

Suzana Sainol was the principal dance instructor from Salsa Cubana in Singapore. The chapter chose salsa because it’s a great form of exercise, provides a conducive environment for teamwork and bonding, and promotes engagement and social activity.

Four events have been held to date, and apart from continuing to maintain its original mission, the Well-Being chapter hopes to host further events on relevant well-being topics and reminders to in-house counsel to take care of themselves.

The chapter’s mission embraces both mental and physical aspects of well-being for in-house lawyers in Singapore. A support network comprising professionals that can be referred to by in-house lawyers as required is also being set up.
