Almost six months of mediation between Amarchand Mangaldas managing partners Shardul and Cyril Shroff has culminated in the break-up of the legacy firm as the brothers parted ways to set up their own practices. Amarchand Mangaldas was officially dissolved on 9 May.
From 11 May, Shardul Shroff became the executive chairman of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM) and Pallavi Shroff became its managing partner. The firm will retain Amarchand’s offices in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad and Kolkata and launch three new offices in Mumbai along with an office in Bangalore.
The firm began operations with 300 lawyers including 60 partners.
