International law firm Bird & Bird has entered into an association agreement with Singapore-based Alban Tay Mahtani & de Silva (ATMD). The agreement, which will take effect in January, gives Bird & Bird a presence in Singapore, a key regional hub for India work.

“There are strong synergies between ATMD’s and Bird & Bird’s India practices,” a Bird & Bird spokeswoman told India Business Law Journal. “This will strengthen [Bird & Bird’s] current offering from Asia for India-related transactions in a number of areas.

“Firstly, [both firms] have a very strong M&A capability for India-related transactions. Similarly, we have a strong India-related projects/infrastructure capability from the combined offices. Added to extensive India-related technology, media and telecoms sector knowledge and advisory experience, the combined India practice will be in an even stronger position to service outbound and inbound India-related work.”
