SIPS has opened a Beijing office, supported by several experienced trademark attorneys and agents, and led by Irene Liu.
“Since our establishment in 2012, the opening of a Beijing IP agency was in our business plan. But under the CEPA regime governing such agencies, we needed to wait a few years for relevant approvals to come through,” said SIPS partner and director Joe Simone.
With the addition of the Beijing team, SIPS now has about 60 fee earners and staff. The new office is authorized to file applications for registration of trademarks, copyrights and customs recordals, as well as infringement actions with relevant administrative authorities in China.
The Beijing and Shanghai offices now operate in the name of wholly-owned subsidiary SIPS (Shanghai) Ltd. The Shanghai office continues to operate out of the Guangqi Cultural Centre in Xujiahui district, while the Beijing office is located in the LG Twin Tower in Chaoyang district.
