Statkraft BLP Solar Solutions (SBSS), a joint venture between Norway’s state-owned energy company, Statkraft, and Bharat Light and Power, has set up a 5-MW solar power plant in Karnataka.
SBSS has signed a pact to sell power from this project to three clients in Karnataka – a five-star hotel in Bengaluru, a subsidiary of a major German industrial conglomerate and a subsidiary of a German automobile parts manufacturer. The clients will be supplied solar power under the open access mechanism.
SBSS was set up in 2015 and has since then commissioned rooftop projects as well as the solar plant in Karnataka. Statkraft also owns about 300 MW of hydroelectric capacity in India in a joint venture with Bhilwara Energy.
HSA Advocates represented SBSS on the deal. The firm advised on the regulatory framework and assisted in drafting and negotiation of the project contracts. HSA’s team was led by partner Ajoy Halder along with senior associate Akshay Malhotra.
