Employment law specialist Swarnima has risen through the ranks to become a partner at Trilegal.
“There are quite a few issues that are becoming more relevant today and throwing up new challenges for business owners – be it gig workers and issues around their employment status and benefits; or ensuring that employees use social media responsibly,” Swarnima told India Business Law Journal. “We are also seeing a lot more focus on diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Not only are there new pieces of legislation encouraging diversity, but businesses are appreciating the benefits that a diverse workforce offers.”
Swarnima, who was promoted from her position as counsel, is based in the firm’s Bengaluru office. “It is an exciting new phase,” she said. “I joined Trilegal seven years ago as an associate and have grown with the practice.”
Her promotion takes the firm to 44 partners.
“It is a joy to see Swarnima’s growth to the firm’s partnership,” said Ajay Raghavan, a partner and head of the firm’s employment law practice. “She has emerged as a top-notch employment lawyer and is arguably one of the best POSH [Prevention of Sexual Harassment] experts in the country.”
Swarnima has worked on a wide range of employment matters, including structuring senior management contracts and remuneration policies, advising on effective management of resignations and terminations, and strategy for senior management exits. She has assisted clients through disciplinary inquiries, reorganization and closure of their businesses in India, as well as on trade union-related issues.
She has also assisted several multinational clients with managing complaints of sexual harassment in the workplace, reviewed and created sexual harassment policies for committee members and conducted training for committee members on the investigation process and strategy.
